MCHS Warns Moscow Residents of Wet Snow and Black Ice; Further Cold Snap Predicted
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MCHS) in Moscow has issued a warning to city residents, advising them to prepare for wet snow and black ice conditions expected from the evening of April 7 through the morning of April 8.
According to meteorological forecasts, between 9:00 PM on April 7 and 10:00 AM on April 8, localized areas across Moscow are likely to experience wet snow accumulating on power lines and tree branches, alongside icy road conditions.
The MCHS urges motorists to exercise extreme caution by significantly reducing their speed and maintaining a greater distance from other vehicles.
Earlier warnings from Marina Makarova, a leading specialist at the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, also indicated a mix of wet snow and rain for Moscow and the surrounding region on April 8.
Furthermore, Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading expert at the Phobos Weather Center, projected that blizzards would sweep across Moscow and Central Russia on April 9 and 10, with temperatures plummeting to between -5 and -8 degrees Celsius.
However, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, chief specialist at the Moscow Meteobureau, expressed skepticism regarding the formation of a significant snow cover in the capital region, despite some conflicting meteorological predictions.
