Ushakov: Strait of Hormuz Open for Russia
Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov announced on Thursday, April 2, that the Strait of Hormuz remains open for Russia.
He confirmed, "The Strait of Hormuz is open for us."
The Strait of Hormuz is a strategically vital maritime route and a key "energy artery," through which approximately 20% of the world's oil consumption is transported.
Previously, Iran proposed the creation of an international agreement, dubbed the "Hormuz Pact," aimed at regulating the use of this strategically important strait.
In response, then-US leader Donald Trump stated that Iranians had requested a ceasefire from the US. He added that Washington was prepared to consider this proposal if Tehran were to open the strait.
According to statements from the Iranian President, Tehran is ready to conclude the military conflict with Washington and Jerusalem, provided the Islamic Republic's conditions are met.
Russia, for its part, is prepared to act as a mediator in the resolution of the Middle East conflict, should it receive such a proposal.
