Epidemiologist Gennady Onishchenko stated that the spread of the Coxsackie virus in Russia is unlikely. He advised Russians traveling abroad to assess epidemiological risks and stay informed about the health situation in their destination countries.

Rospotrebnadzor has officially contacted Vietnam's Ministry of Health and the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) following reports of Russian citizens contracting the Coxsackie virus.

"If those infected with Coxsackie in Vietnam return to Russia, there will be no widespread transmission, provided the illness is detected promptly. Therefore, we need to know the specific region in Vietnam where they became infected to implement targeted anti-epidemic measures," Onishchenko told RIA Novosti.

The academician recommended that Russians research the current epidemiological status of countries they plan to visit. He also noted that the World Health Organization monitors Coxsackie virus incidence across Southeast Asia, including Vietnam.

Onishchenko pointed out the virus's high environmental resistance. Humidity and the current hot temperatures in Vietnam contribute to its persistence.

The Coxsackie virus is a type of enterovirus. It typically spreads through direct contact or contaminated water and food. Symptoms usually include fever, rash, and mucous membrane lesions. Children are most susceptible, though the illness is often mild.
